More than 100 people came to see the new Promise Learning Lab at Cedar Estates. Central residents, foundation partners, students and others came to see the new 26-station lab and sign up for computer training. The lab is one of many resources brought to the Cleveland Central Promise Neighborhood. This is the type of commitment and collaboration from community partners that helped the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority secure a $300,000 Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant for this community which is aimed at transforming distressed neighborhoods – in this case the Cedar/Central area – by linking housing improvements, with family programs and services, schools and jobs.
The learning lab is a partnership between the foundation, CMHA, OneCommunity’s “Connect Your Way” project which provides training, equipment and support for low-income households and the Cleveland Housing Network. Adult computer classes are scheduled to begin soon at the lab.
